My dryer was taking extra long to dry my clothing and all the laundry (towels and sheets) from my rentals and I was getting concerned so I called Chuck's Ducts at the recommendation of my appliance guy. Chuck came out and snaked the entire line from the roof and there was a huge amount of lint that came out so it was a good thing I checked it. It was costing a lot of money in electric to run the dryer longer and longer and also the risk of a fire could have been in the future. So if any of you are experiencing the same thing, or what your dryer duct cleaned, he accepts credit cards. His web site is: www.chucksducts.com and his email is: chucksducts @hotmail.com. Business phone is 386-212-1895 (licensed and insured with over 10 years experience). MN (Name and number available upon request) I called you today to tell you about a service (Chuck's Ducts) that I thought warranted your looking into. Time will tell if my mold-contaminated air conditioning system (recently visible around the supply vents on my ceilings and also on the interior and exterior of the unit in my garage) has been the cause of several months of pulmonary and allergy doctor's appointments and numerous medications to find the reason for my chronic sore throat and hoarseness. After observing the thorough job these people did for more than four hours today I'm inclined to believe I've done the right thing regardless of the improvement in my health. I was breathing mold-contaminated air, day and night, whether using heat or air conditioning, which, because of my allergies, runs 24/7. They also cleaned and sanitized all my ceiling fans and exhaust vents in the bathrooms as part of the treatment. And they also discovered a multitude of flaws in my system that needed patching, caulking, taping, etc. and were never repaired or mentioned in all the previous service calls. My system was "spinning its wheels" so to speak and working inefficiently and costing a fortune in electricity. It was drawing hot air in from the garage and cooling my attic!!!!! I have routinely used Total Comfort for the four years that I've lived in this house and also had them install all new ducts two years ago. There was never any mention of mold is all the service calls. And actually I had a service man here two weeks ago for the visible mold on the ceilings that I thought might be dirt, and was told they weren't in the business of making that determination. Then they offered to clean all my vents and ducts for $450.00. (That's when I decided to call someone who would know the difference between dirt and mold.) I plan to write to them and express my disappointment with the service they provided me. I trusted that such a large company would be doing the right thing for its customers and their health. I suggest you check out the web site (www.Chucksducts.com) and also ask for references from the owner (Charles French) and then consider adding them to your approved list. I'm sending a copy of this letter to the owner and I've also told him I'd be happy to give him a letter of reference. I highly recommend them. TG (Name and number available upon request) Well here I am again. Each time I run into a local vendor who does a quality job with reasonable pricing, I feel compelled to share the information with the residents of Hammock Dunes. I used to know most of the people at Hammock Dunes, that is no longer the case, so I am sending this to people I know. If you utilize his services and are satisfied, as I feel confident you will be, please pass it on to your neighbors. We had all of our air conditioning ducts cleaned, this includes a thorough cleaning of the air handlers and their respective fans, all the grates that cover the supplies and returns are cleaned, and all the ducts in the attic are checked for leaks and resealed if necessary. For a typical home at Hammock Dunes somewhere between 3500 and 4500 sq. ft., it will take pretty much the entire day. If you have a 2 zone system, The cost will be in the neighborhood of $700. I had ours done 6 years ago and probably should have had it redone a year earlier. I am going on a 3 year schedule, just because he did such a good job of checking everything out in the attic where you can lose a lot of money by wasting air conditioning. They arrived on time, were very efficient and finished basically when promised. You can probably expect 8-10 hours. The estimate I gave you on cost will obviously have to be validated by the vendor, It certainly does not apply to the vast majority of homes on the Island. We also had our dryer vent cleaned, which if not attended to for a long period of time can become a fire hazard. The name of the Vendor is Chuck's Ducts Telephone is 386-212-1895 Web page chucksducts.com His name is Chuck French I also told Chuck that I would not send an email out until I was completely satisfied with his work, which I am. He also managed to solve a problem in two guest bedrooms that were not being sufficiently cooled when Air Conditioning engineers couldn't. There is nothing in this for me. I am just trying to help a local guy who does a good job, and as we all have experienced they are few and far between. JS (Name and number available upon request)
